Chandigarh: CM Amarinder Singh has requested PM Narendra Modi to release Rs 6,752 crore arrears of GST compensation of the state soon. Amarinder Singh in his letter to PM Modi has said that this amount of GST compensation is outstanding from October 2, 2019. He has also tweeted in this regard.

Singh has requested PM Modi to direct Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to release this amount soon. CM Singh said that in view of the coronavirus crisis, this amount should be released on priority. In the time of such crisis, both the central and state governments have to face the challenges arising out of Covid-19. If the outstanding amount of GST compensation is released, then this will provide great relief to Punjab in fighting the fight against Corona.
