According to media reports, a press release was issued by the Bhagwant Mann government on Tuesday (September 13, 2022), stating that German luxury car maker BMW has agreed to set up its auto part manufacturing unit in Punjab. Some pictures of Chief Minister Mann were also shared on social media, in which he is seen holding a meeting. In this case, CM Bhagwant Mann confirmed this by tweeting. He tweeted and announced that BMW is going to set up its second unit in Punjab within India. Earlier, the company's unit was only in Chennai, he said. He also said that this will encourage industrial development in the state and open new avenues of employment for the youth.
