Amritsar: A major security lapse in PM Modi's security in Bathinda, Punjab, led protesters to know his route and a crowd gathered at the flyover. PM Narendra Modi then had to cancel his Ferozepur rally and return. CM Charanjit Singh Channi is constantly changing his statements in this regard. Earlier, he had said that the rally had 70,000 chairs, but only 700 people came. He then described the incident as 'natural.' Charanjit Singh Channi, who was made a CM by the Congress party by removing an experienced administrator like Captain Amarinder Singh, denied any breach or lapse in the security of the PM and said the plan was changed at no time.

Later in his statement, Channi said that he himself was monitoring the security arrangements for PM Modi's visit till late in the night. Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has admitted that PM Modi's security has really been missed contrary to CM Channi's statement. Congress leaders had been sharing pictures of empty chairs since noon claiming that they had cancelled a rally in PM Modi due to lack of crowd. While BJP leaders released pictures and videos showing that people had reached the rally venue since morning to listen to PM Modi and there was a huge crowd at the venue. BJP IT SAIL national president Amit Malviya said CS and DGP should have accompanied PM Narendra Modi's convoy but this time both of them were missing.

CM Channi also says that he has isolated himself due to exposure to some corona infected people and hence could not reach to receive PM Modi. Amit Malviya accuses the Punjab government of constantly lying. Similarly, there were earlier reports in the media that the SSP of Ferozepur had been suspended, but CM Channi again dismissed the news. Now CM Channi is assuming that he was aware of the protesters on PM Modi's route. Let us tell you that wherever the PM has to go, then first that route is rehearsed, which happened this time also. This proves the claim that changing plans at the last minute caused problems.

The video also shows Punjab police drinking tea with protesters who held PM Modi's convoy for 20 minutes. The place where the incident took place is only 30 km from the Border of Pakistan. Bombs are recovered from there day in and day out. In front of the media, protesters are seen admitting that they were fully aware of PM Modi's route. The question is when this information was only with the Punjab Police, how did everything reach the protesters? Eyewitnesses say the protesters had vandalised several buses and also attacked BJP workers. According to eyewitnesses, PM Modi's security had weakened there and anything could have happened. But the biggest question is who is to blame for all this?

On the other hand, the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (Revolutionary) has taken the responsibility of keeping the Prime Minister's convoy on hold. The incident took place near Pierrena village. BKU (Revolutionary) General Secretary Baldev Jeera has said that he has taught a lesson to "arrogant" Modi by doing this. This organization is left-wing and is involved in the United Kisan Morcha. In 2009, union president Surjit Phool was also arrested under UAPA for his links with Maoists. It was only on December 31, 2021, that farmers' organisations held a meeting in Barnala to plan to disrupt the visit.
