Punjab CM on Mohali blast: "Those who try to spoil atmosphere will not be spared"

CHANDIGARH: whoever tried to destroy the atmosphere would not be spared'. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said in his first response on Tuesday, hours after a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) damaged the Punjab Police Intelligence wing headquarters in Mohali, police said.

"The blast in Mohali is being investigated by the police. No one will be spared for attempting to degrade the atmosphere in our Punjab "Mann used Twitter. A high alert has been issued for the entire state. The explosive shattered windowpanes on the third floor of the Intelligence Bureau offices in an upmarket neighbourhood on Monday evening.

"Unidentified individuals shot the RPG from a safe distance before fleeing in a vehicle. "A Swift car was sighted at the scene," a police officer said adding that "two miscreants conducted a recce before the attack." Later in the day, a National Security Guard (NSG) unit is due to arrive on the scene.

The attack was targeted at high-ranking members of the Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU), who work out of the Intelligence wing's headquarters.

Arvind Kajriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor, said the bomb was a cowardly act by people who wish to undermine Punjab's tranquilly.
