Amritsar: Former Punjab CM Sardar Parkash Singh Badal today termed PM Narendra Modi's announcement to withdraw three agricultural laws as "a decisive moment in history." He said that this holy day of Guru Nanak Dev's Prakash Parv is a historic day for farmers. Badal said in a statement, 'This is the biggest event in the history of farmers' struggle all over the world. I thank the great Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj and congratulate every farmer who sweats in his fields.'

Prakash Singh Badal's party Shiromani Akal Dal had withdrawn from the BJP-led alliance last year in protest against agricultural laws. The Shiromani Akali Dal was part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for 24 years. Expressing regret over not consulting farmers before implementing these laws, Prakash Singh Badal said, "This is the first time in the history of democratic governments that cruel laws were enacted without including farmers. No government should ever do that. Such insensitive and cruel work should not be returned.''

Reacting to PM Modi's announcement, Badal said the impact of the decision will be much higher than that of farmers. It will have a broad and long-term impact on the struggle for justice for the poor and the underprivileged all over the world. Badal expressed grief over the deaths of farmers during the conflict. He said, "My first condolences are with the families of more than 700 farmers who touched martyrdom on the path of this just and great struggle. I wish they were alive to see today with us here.''
