Chandigarh: After the removal of Captain Amarinder Singh as chief minister in Punjab, the biggest question now arises as to who will be the Chief Minister of Punjab now? Let me tell all of you that after the resignation of Amarinder Singh, the market for speculation about the names of the new Chief Minister has heated up. So far, the contenders for the next Chief Minister of Punjab include Navjot Singh, Sunil Jakhar, former Union Minister Ambika Soni or State Minister Vijay Inder Singla, though nothing can be said yet.
In fact, the final decision has to be taken by Sonia Gandhi because the legislature party has authorised Sonia Gandhi to elect a new leader. It is believed that the next contender for the chair will be sealed by today i.e. Let us also tell you that the All India Congress Committee observer will be present in Chandigarh till the names are finalised. It is said that an important meeting has also been held at Rahul Gandhi's residence in New Delhi over the name of the new Chief Minister.
Let me tell all of you that Amarinder Singh resigned as chief minister last Saturday after a prolonged tussle with Punjab Pradesh Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu and bluntly said that he felt humiliated by the repeated convening of a meeting of MLAs after which he decided to step down. In the legislature party meeting held after the chief minister, Congress president Sonia Gandhi was authorized to select a new leader of the legislature party.
It is said that this new leader will be the next Chief Minister of Punjab. Some sources said, apart from Navjot Singh Sidhu as the leader of the new legislature party, the names of former Congress Punjab unit president Sunil Jakhar, former ministers Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Tripti Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Rajya Sabha member Pratap Singh Bajwa are in the news. According to him, apart from these names, the names of former Union Ministers Ambika Soni, Brahma Mahindra, Vijay Inder Singla, Punjab Congress Working President Kuljit Singh Nagara etc.
