New Delhi: A three-member committee set up with the intention of resolving the dispute in the Punjab unit of the Congress has submitted its report to party president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday. Party sources said the report suggests that CM Captain Amarinder Singh should remain in command and former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu should be given the honoured post ahead of next year's assembly elections in the state, as well as the state president. Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar today gave his reaction to the proposals.

On the proposal to give the honourable post to Navjot Singh Sidhu, Jakhar said, Captain Amarinder Singh and various Congress Punjab Congress leaders already believe that Navjot Singh Sidhu should be ranked in the party as per his post and captain Amarinder Singh had also tried to discuss with Sidhu for the same. In such a situation, whatever the high command instructs will be followed now.

Now, on the proposal to remove the State President from office, Sunil Jakhar said, "If my resignation strengthens the party in Punjab and the Congress high command feels that a leader other than me can run the Punjab Congress better than me, I will welcome him and am ready to resign from his own post. It does not mean at all who is in office, it is more important for us to take the party forward. On the poster war issued among Congress leaders, he said that there is nothing wrong with it and any leader can make his point or stand through posters and everyone has the right to it.
