New Delhi: The turmoil in the Punjab Congress is still going on. Former State Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has met party president Sonia Gandhi amid the ongoing controversy in the Punjab unit of the Congress today. The meeting between Sonia and Sidhu continued for about an hour. Harish Rawat met the media after the meeting. He too was a part of this meeting. Congress General Secretary Harish Rawat, who met the media, only said, "Those who will take decisions. She will take Sonia Gandhi." At the same time, after a meeting with Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Harish Rawat also said, "As soon as I get the Congress President's decision on Punjab, I will come and talk to the media."

However, Congress General Secretary Harish Rawat did not say anything about the meeting. Sonia and Sidhu met at a time when there is talk of preparing for an organizational change in the party's Punjab unit and giving Sidhu an important role in it. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and party's Punjab in-charge Harish Rawat were also present at the meeting. Just last Thursday, Rawat had said, "The high command is working on a formula that will help both Amarinder Singh and Sidhu work together to lead the Congress to victory in next year's assembly elections."

You must be aware that for the last few months, the Punjab Congress has been witnessing open discord. In fact, former Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and some other leaders have launched a front against Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. The Congress high command had constituted a three-member committee headed by leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge to resolve the rift in the party.
