Amritsar: The battle in The Amritsar East seat in the Punjab Assembly elections is very thorny. Here, Bikram Singh Majithia of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is pitting against Navjot Singh Sidhu of Congress. Jeevan Jyot Kaur is contesting on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket. This seat is a question of credit for Sidhu. This is because Sidhu has been winning elections in this seat for 18 years. Navjot Singh Sidhu is leading in the trends that have come so far.

It may be mentioned that the situation in Punjab became very difficult after Navjot Singh Sidhu took over the reins. After captain Amarinder Singh's departure, Sidhu has a big responsibility of the Congress. The promise of his daughter Rabia is also at stake here. Sidhu's daughter Rabia had expressed her displeasure over Channi being declared the CM face and expressed her anger over Channi being called poor. Rabia went so far as to say that she would not marry until her father won.

Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi is in the fray from Chamkaur Sahib traditional seat. Channi has been winning this seat continuously since 2007. Interestingly, the name of the candidate from whom Channi is considered to be a tough fight is also Charanjit Singh. He is in the fray on an AAP ticket. Darshan Singh Shivjot is in the fray on a BJP ticket. According to the trends, Channi is leading.
