Punjab gets 58 new buses, CM Channi drives bus himself

Amritsar: Punjab CM Charanjeet Singh Channi on Wednesday launched 58 new government buses. Meanwhile, CM Channi himself drove the bus for some distance. A total of 842 modern vehicles have been added to punjab's fleet at a cost of Rs 400 crore for the first time. Cm Channi flagged off the first instalment of 30 buses for PRTC and 28 buses for PUNBUS.

He said that strict action against erring bus operators and tax evaders in the last two months has resulted in revival of transport department. Tell us that the buses were brought to Chandigarh, cm Channi's official residence, for the inauguration. He took over the driving seat of the bus himself here and drove the bus for a few distances.  State Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Wading also drove the bus in addition to CM Channi.

Cm Channi also announced free bus travel facility for students of all colleges and universities. The decision will benefit lakhs of students across Punjab on their way to school for education. "We are also constructing and renovating 105 bus terminals to further strengthen overall infrastructure," CM Channi said. '
