Punjab: In a bid to provide expert counselling to school and college students, the government of Punjab has launched a career portal.  Pargat Singh, the state education minister, unveiled the career portal on Monday.

"Education Minister Pargat Singh announces the launch of the Punjab Career Portal, which will provide expert counselling. "10 lakh students will be able to access information regarding career counselling, courses, and scholarships while sitting at home," according to a Punjab government notificaiotn. The lack of a centralised career platform keeps students at bay, the minister said. He also stated that suitable career counselling must be provided to students at the appropriate time. Students will be able to learn about numerous online courses, scholarships, and vocations through the newly established career portal.

The Punjab Cabinet has adopted an amendment to the Punjab Learning of Punjabi and Other Languages Act, 2008, making Punjabi language a compulsory subject for pupils in grades 1 to 10 in all Punjabi schools.

Meanwhile, the Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) has said that students in government and private schools will be required to pay a fee to obtain a paper copy of their passing certificate from school. Students in Class 8 will be charged Rs 100, while students in Classes 10, 12, would be charged Rs 300 for hard copies of their board exam results.
