Chandigarh:  In a major political reshuffle, Congress high command has appointed Harish Chaudhary as Congress in-charge of Punjab and Chandigarh. Conversely, Harish Rawat, posted till now on this post, has been relieved of responsibility.

Harish Chaudhary is the Revenue Minister of Rajasthan. He has also been the co-in-charge of Punjab in 2017. When the Congress had called a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party, Chaudhary was sent as an observer. Since then he is in Punjab.

Harish Rawat himself had expressed his desire to step down. In fact, due to the elections in Uttarakhand, Rawat was unable to pay attention to the party activities there. Three days ago, Harish Rawat had also made a public appeal to the party high command on Twitter to relieve him from the post of in-charge of Punjab. Even before this, Harish Rawat had asked to step down from the post of Punjab in-charge. The party informed of the change in a press release on Friday, signed by general secretary KC Venugopal.
