Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday has asked the Punjab and Central Government to file a notice of a reply in the case of demolition of Jio's mobile towers and telecom equipment in the state. The court has served notice against Reliance Jio's plea seeking action against those who damaged its mobile towers and other properties in Punjab amid agitation against three agricultural laws in force in September.

The JIO petition stated that the company's 1,500 telecom towers have been badly damaged in Punjab and all of them have stopped functioning. There are 14 million consumers of Jio in Punjab. At the same time, the company has also accused its business rivals of taking advantage of the protests of the ongoing farmers.

Reliance Jio has stated in its petition that its parent company, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), retail arms and associate companies do not have plans to do corporate or contract farming in the future. Also, she is neither interested in purchasing agricultural land nor will she buy it. At the same time, the company insisted that its aim is to make the farmers stronger.
