Amritsar: A tragic incident took place near Dhanowali on Jalandhar Phagwara Highway in Punjab on Monday morning. Two girls were run over by a speeding car here. One was killed while the other girl was injured in the accident. The car in which the girls were hit was reportedly a police officer. The entire incident was recorded on a nearby CCTV camera.

 

The deceased girl, who met with an accident in Jalandhar in the morning, has been identified as Navjot Kaur from Dhanowali. Navjot Cosmo worked in Hyundai. She was walking along the National Highway with her friend when a speeding car mowed down the two. Navjot died on the spot in the accident. The Breja car of Hoshiarpur number who hit the girls is said to belong to a police officer. The family members of the deceased blocked the Phagwara Highway to protest against the accident. Police rushed to the spot immediately after the incident and tried to pacify them.

Family members of the deceased Navjot said Navjot was his only child. She was going to her work like every day. The girl was crossing the highway when she was run over by a car. Navjot stepped back when he saw the speeding car coming, but the driver hit him badly, killing him. He said the driver fled with the car leaving the girl in agony on the spot.
