Chandigarh: Jasveer Singh alias Jassi, accused in the Morinda sacrilege case of Punjab, has died in police custody. Jasveer was imprisoned in Mansa's Tamkot jail. According to police sources, he was brought to Mansa Civil Hospital after he complained of severe chest pain. Where he died during treatment. Jasveer was shifted from Rupnagar to Mansa on 29 April.

According to police sources, Jasveer Singh was admitted to a government hospital in Mansa after he complained of chest pain and breathing problems. In the Civil Hospital, Dr. Ishan has informed that Jasveer Singh died due to chest pain and shortness of breath. Jasveer Singh's body has been kept in the civil hospital and further investigation is underway. However, what is the cause of Jasveer's death. There is still doubt on this. The police is engaged in the investigation of this entire matter. SSP Nanak Singh has informed that the accused was brought to the hospital on Monday evening at 4 pm after his health deteriorated and Jasveer died during treatment at around 9 pm.

Actually, on April 24, a video of Jasveer Singh went viral on social media. After which he was arrested by the police. In the video, he is seen entering the sanctum sanctorum of Gurdwara Kotwali Sahib at Morinda in Rupnagar district. After this he is seen attacking two granthis (priests) and disrespecting Sri Guru Granth Sahib. SP Navneet Singh Mahal told the media on April 24 that Jasveer Singh, accused of sacrilege, has been arrested. He attacked granthis and people performing kirtan at Morinda Gurdwara Sahib.

After arrest, Jasveer Singh was produced in a court in Rupnagar on 27 April. Here a person tried to attack him with a pistol. That person was also arrested by the police. After custody, Jasveer Singh was shifted to Mansa Jail on 29 April.
