Amritsar: Reports of a Hindu temple being targeted once again have surfaced in the Congress-ruled state of Punjab. On wednesday night (July 21, 2021), miscreants ransacked the Neelkanth Mahadev temple in Kalaudi Ghanwara village on Sangrur-Patiala Road in Bhavanigarh. The statues placed there were broken. He also burnt the pictures of the deities in the temple. This is the second such incident in the state this month.

According to media reports, the demolition of the Hindu temple was revealed by two locals Bagga Ram and Tari Ram. The duo visited the temple at 5 am on Thursday when they went for a walk. He then informed the Gram Pradhan about it. People from Hindu organisations including several villagers also rushed to the spot as soon as they came to know about the demolition of the temple. According to the report, villagers said that when they reached the temple, they noticed that the idols of Lord Shiva and Hanuman ji had been destroyed. The trident was broken. The pictures were burnt to ashes.

The temple is located on the side of the road in the open space. It doesn't even have a CCTV camera. However, the police have registered a case against village pradhan Gurjant Singh. People of Bajrang Dal have also protested against the incident. The village pradhan has assured the villagers and bajrang dal people of the reconstruction of the temple. In this case, DSP Satpal Singh has said, "The temple is in an open space and was ransacked at night. Sangrur police have registered a case under various sections against unidentified persons. He has assured that the miscreants who carried out the incident will be nabbed soon."
