Chandigarh: The first photo of Akali Dal leader and former Punjab Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, who is absconding in the drug case, has surfaced. Majithia is seen bowing his head at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on the occasion of the new year. The Punjab government had filed an FIR against Bikram Singh Majithia on December 20 in a drug smuggling case. Punjab Police had registered the complaint under several sections of the NDPS Act at the state crime police station in Mohali.

The same Akali Dal leader's photographs have been shared by the Youth Akali Dal on its Facebook page. Punjab Police is continuously conducting raids at several places in search of Majithia. The Akali Dal has directly challenged the Punjab Police by sharing photos of his Golden Temple. Drug trafficking criminal Majithia had filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Mohali district court to avoid arrest but the district court had rejected his bail plea.

Thereafter, the Akali leader filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Punjab-Haryana High Court. But the Registrar of the High Court had expressed some technical objections to the matter, which could not be listed for hearing the same. Though the date of the hearing was later fixed for December 30, the hearing was postponed. The anticipatory bail of Bikram Singh Majithia is now scheduled to be heard in the Punjab-Haryana High Court on January 5.
