Amritsar: Police has arrested the accused who committed sacrilege by entering Kali Mata's temple in Patiala, Punjab. The police is currently interrogating the accused. His name is being told as 35-year-old Rajdeep. He is a resident of the Nain Kalan village of Patiala. This village is just 8 kilometres away from Patiala city. Rajdeep is accused of trying to hug the idol of Kali Mata.
The incident happened at 2.45 pm on Monday. Rajdeep reached the temple and tried to desecrate the ancient idol of Kali Mata. He suddenly climbed onto the seat by climbing the grill in front of the main idol in the temple and started touching and hugging the idol of Kali Mata. Whose elder priest separated him from the idol and pushed him down from the seat. According to eyewitnesses, the accused had also tried to hug a woman who had come to the temple.
Angered by this incident, the temple committee members and devotees caught hold of the youth and beat him up in the middle of the road. The CCTV footage of this incident of sacrilege also came to the fore. The people of the outraged Hindu Takht had blocked the road in front of Shri Kali Mata Temple. He had said that there is a need to take strict action against the person who did the sacrilege as well as those who were looking after the security arrangements.
