Two-year-old boy trapped in Borewell, rescue operation underway

Sangrur: The operation which was run in Punjab's Sangrur district to rescue the two-year-old fatehveer that fell in a 150-foot-deep Borewell, has reached its final stage after about 70 hours. Officials said on Sunday that Fatehvir is the only child of the mother and father. He fell into unutilised borewells while playing around four o'clock on Thursday evening.

The nearly seven-inch wide Borewell was covered with cloth. Accidentally the baby fell into it. His mother tried to save the child, but he could not succeed. Deputy commissioner of Sangrur Ghanshyam Thorae said rescue work is underway and it is in its last phase. Its likely to be completed today. He said that the child was unconscious as he fell into the Borewell, and the baby could not be given food or water. However, he is being given oxygen.

Officials who have been monitoring the child's situation through cameras say they have seen some movement in the child's body. Thorae said the rescue work is in their eye. The NDRF has sent an officer who has mastered the evacuation of those trapped in the borewells.
