All the schools have been closed since mid-March last year when the novel Coronavirus hit the nation. Schools have adopted online education as a mode of study causing a massive transformation in the education sector. However, reopening schools in offline mode is not mandatory. But the school reopening decision is being taken By Punjab Govt.

The Punjab government on Tuesday announced that schools for classes 10, 11, and 12 will reopen from July 26 as the state's COVID-19 positivity rate declined by 0.3%. The state also increased the number of people allowed for indoor events to 150 and outdoor programs to 300, subject to an upper limit of 50% of the capacity of the venue.

The Ministry of Education said that 'the brief focus will be in three areas: attendance, social distancing, and hygiene and cleaning and said if covid case rises they will pass order shutting down of the school'.
