Punjab team selection trial for Khelo India Youth Games canceled

The selection trials for the selection of Punjab women's and men's hockey teams for the Khelo India Youth Games starting from June 4 in Amritsar on May 17 have also been cancelled. Olympian Balwinder Singh Shammi, a member of the ad hoc committee of Hockey Punjab, has issued this information on Monday.

Shammi has said that the selection trial to be held in Amritsar on May 17 for the selection of Punjab Women and Men's Hockey teams for the Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Haryana from June 4 to 13 has been cancelled. Continuing his point, he has said that only those potential players are going to be invited to the camp for this purpose, who have been selected by Hockey Punjab after trials.

Earlier there were reports that Jharkhand has qualified for the semi-finals of the 12th Hockey India Senior Women's National Championship by defeating Maharashtra 5-4 in a shootout here on Saturday. Both the teams could not score in regular time due to which the match went into a shootout. Haryana, Karnataka and Odisha have also won their quarterfinal matches to ensure a place in the last 4. Haryana beat UP 3-2 in a shootout. Karnataka beat Punjab 5-4 in a shootout after scoring 1-1 in the stipulated time. Odisha has also registered a 2-0 win over Madhya Pradesh.
