Defending champions Punjab have given their campaign a good start to their campaign in the men's category with a 105-69 win over Gujarat in the opening round Group A match at the 71st Senior National Basketball Championships here on Sunday. For Punjab, Amijot Singh scored the most points with 27 points, while Princepal Singh has contributed with 15 and Kanwar GS Sandhu with 14 points.

Hosts Tamil Nadu had started with an 85-47 win over Delhi in Group C on the back of a brilliant performance by captain Muin Beck (15 points). Karnataka defeated  Army 117-76 in Group B with the help of Anil Kumar BK (28 points), Arvind (25 points) and Pratyanshu Tomar (21 points).  In the women's section, the Indian railways' strong team has won an impressive 100-62 victory over Tamil Nadu in group A.
