Amritsar: Before the assembly elections in Punjab, new faces are being entered into politics. Earlier, actor Sonu Sood had announced to field his sister Malvika Sood in the electoral battlefield. Now right there, well-known actress Mahie Gill has stepped into the political world. Mahi Gill has taken membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chandigarh.

Sources have informed that Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar welcomed Mahi Gill to the party by giving a bouquet. During this, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and BJP leader Dushyant Gautam were also present along with CM Khattar. Mahi Gill has been associated with the Hindi and Punjabi film industry for the past two decades. The 46-year-old made her film debut in 2003 with the film 'Hawa'. After this, she also acted in Punjabi films like 'Khushi Mil Gayi' and 'Sirf Panch Din'.

However, the turning point in her career came when she was cast in the 2008 film Dev D, which is a Hindi romantic film. The film was written and directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film gave Gill a new flight. Mahie Gill got popular after Dev D.
