Amritsar: Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal has praised Punjab's first six months of GST collection. Kejriwal tweeted 'Very good! Clear intentions and honest work have started showing results. The people and businessmen of Punjab are all supporting. Punjab is on the way to progress.' CM Kejriwal said the same thing while retweeting the tweet of the state Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, in which he informed that the GST collection of the state has reached 10 thousand crores for the first time.
State Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has tweeted that this is the first time in the first half of the current financial year when the GST collection has crossed Rs 10,000 crore. Finance, Planning and Excise and Taxation Minister Cheema said that in the current financial year, the GST collection has grown by 22.6 per cent on an annual basis. He has told that the GST collection in the first six months of the last financial year was Rs 8,650 crore. He said that in this financial year, an additional GST collection of Rs 1,950 crore has been done and with this, it stood at Rs 10,604 crores for the first time.
Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has said in a statement that a GST collection of Rs 1,710 crores has been received in September this year, which is higher than Rs 1,402 crores in September 2021. He said that it is estimated by the state government that a total GST collection of Rs 20,550 crores would be achieved in 2022-23. He said that the state has achieved more than 50 per cent GST in the first six months itself.
