MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone with the leaders of several countries,  the Kremlin has said. On Thursday, Putin spoke by phone with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, describing how the situation in Ukraine is evolving.

According to reports, Raisi voiced understanding for Russia's security worries generated by the US and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's destabilising acts.

The Kremlin said it discussed issues linked to diplomatic efforts to preserve and fully implement the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear programme, noting that obtaining a final deal on the JCPOA would help regional stability and security.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also informed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Moscow's position on Ukraine.

"President Putin expressed his fundamental evaluations of Kiev's aggressive activities against the civilian population of Donbas, as well as Kiev's many years of harmful policy aimed at violating the Minsk agreements," the Kremlin said. Putin also briefed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Moscow's standpoint on the Ukraine issue.

During a phone call, Putin and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, also discussed the situation in Ukraine. Both sides had a "serious and candid" exchange of ideas on the situation in Ukraine, according to the Kremlin. The Russian President also delivered "detailed explanations of the reasons and circumstances for the decision to execute a special military action," according to the Kremlin.
