Kolkata: The Supreme Court of the country has questioned the government as to what it is doing, citing its strong stand on the continued loss of lives due to the corona epidemic. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had issued a contempt notice to the Central government on Tuesday in connection with the non-supply of medical oxygen to Delhi hospitals for corona patients. The Central government approached the apex court to challenge the high court's notice. It was heard by a bench headed by Justice D Chandrachud.

Justice Chandrachud asked SG Tushar Mehta that there should be a concrete system and what is being done for it. Justice Chandrachud also said that putting the officers in jail and imposing contempt will not bring oxygen, but let us know what steps are being taken for this. On this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court on behalf of the Central Government that it is unfortunate that when we are trying our best in the corona epidemic, the Delhi High Court served a contempt notice against us.

The Delhi High Court had on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to the Centre questioning why contempt of court case should not be initiated against you. The high court had also said that the apex court had also ordered the government to address the problem of the supply of oxygen to Delhi hospitals on May 2. The High Court had told the Centre that you could hide your neck like an ostrich in the sand, but we would not.
