The poster girl of Indian badminton, PV Sind, has acquired a sponsorship deal with the Chinese sports brand Li Ning. The deal is of a whopping amount of Rs 50 crore and has been done for a period of 4 years. This record deal comes after Kidambi Srikanth was offered 35 crores over a period of 4 years by the same company last month. This deal can be seen as one of the biggest deals in the history of world badminton.

Here its to be known that Mahender Kapoor, director of Sunlight Sports Private Limited, has said that this deal is close to the deal acquired by the Indian cricket Captain Virat Kohli, whose deal is of 100 crore rupees. He clarified that Sindhu would be getting 40 crores for the sponsorship while the rest amount will be for equipment, that is the main reason why the deal is being approximated at 50 crores, "Sindhu's deal is one of the biggest in world badminton. It is close to Rs 50 crore for sponsorship and equipment," Kapoor told that . Kapoor added that "It will be a deal which is very close to Puma's deal with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli in terms of yearly sponsorship. Sindhu will get Rs 40 crore as sponsorship while the rest will be for equipment, so it is close to Rs 50 crore,".

However It was in the year 2017 that Puma had signed a deal of 100 crore rupees with the Indian skipper Virat Kohli for a period of eight years, which makes it roughly 12.5 crores for every year. Sindhu rose to fame and glory when she was able to win an Olympic silver medal in Rio Olympics. The badminton sensation was listed as the World's seventh-highest paid sportswoman on the Forbes list last year. This is Li Ning's second stint with Sindhu. There earlier deal was in the year 2014-15 for a sum of 1.25 crore per year.

Sindhu was with Yonex brand in the year 2016 for a contract of 3 years in which the player was getting 3.5 crores per year. Li-Ning had also roped in men's doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy for a deal of 4 crore rupees each for a period of two years. The Chinese sports brand also signed a two-year deal with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) last year. In this deal, it was agreed, that the brand will provide Indian athletes with apparel and footwear for Olympics 2020.
