New Delhi: India's veteran women's badminton player PV Sindhu clinches record by winning World Championships in Women's Singles. Her exploits have made her famous in the country and the world. Sindhu became the first Indian to win the tournament after beating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan with 21-7, 21-7 in the final. For the past two years, she had been losing in the final of the tournament. Before Sindhu, no Indian badminton player had even reached the final of the tournament. Sindhu also won the Silver Medal at the Olympics. She is also at the forefront of Indian women's earnings.

Sindhu is the only Indian among the top 15 highest-grossing women players in the magazine Forbes, which has released a list of riches around the world. Her ranking in the world in terms of earnings is 13. Forbes' list includes women players from all over the world earning more than 50 Lac US dollars.

The star badminton player earned 55 Lac dollars last year, or about 39 crore rupees in advertising and prize money in the tournament. Sindhu earned $50 million through commercials alone, while she won $500K as prize money. She has advertised Bank of Baroda, Bridgestone, JBL, Panasonic and many other big brands.
