PV Sindhu once again scripted history on Sunday as she beat Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in straight games to lift her first ever BWF World Tour Finals title in Guangzhou, China.

Rio Olympic silver-medallist Indian continued her rich vein of form to mark a 21-19, 21-17 win over Okuhara in a awe-inspiring summit showdown of the women's singles event that lasted a little over an hour.

Earlier The 23-year-old Sindhu finished as runner-up in the last edition of the tournament. Now she got off to a positive start as she took an early 4-1 lead over her Japanese rival then, Okuhara rebounded sturdily to take back-to-back points and close the gap a little to 5-7 in opposition to Sindhu.

The famous Indian shuttler grab the match's first extended rally to take the lead of 10-5 ahead of Okuhara made a radiant comeback to draw level at 16-16 not in favor of Sindhu. But Sindhu then broke Okuhara's run of consecutive points before in the long run clinching the opening game.
