2-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu's journey to the India Open 2022 is over. The top-ranked 26-year-old Indian lost to Thailand's sixth rank Supanida Katethong in the semi-finals of the women's singles event.

Sindhu did not have a good start and got defeated in the first set 14-21. However, after which she came back strongly to set up the second set 21-13 to level the score. But in the last and decisive set, she lost her rhythm again 10-21 and was knocked out of the tournament. Thailand's Supanida will now face compatriot and second rank Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the tournament title clash.

In the second semi-final of the women's singles, India's Aakarshi Kashyap suffered a 26-24, 21-9 defeat at the hands of Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand. In the match, Aakarshi gave Busanan a tough fight in the first set but the Thailand player did not give him any opportunity in the second set and has beaten him in a one-sided manner. Second rank Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the semi-finals of the men's doubles event and secured their place in the final. The Indian pair defeated William and Fabian of France 21-9 and 23-21 in straight sets.
