Indonesia: P.V. Sindhu, India's top shuttler, was defeated by Ratchanok Intanon in the Indonesia Open women's singles quarterfinals on Saturday. In a 54-minute battle on Court 1, Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon recovered to overcome Sindhu 15-21, 21-9, 21-14. Thai shuttler improves her head-to-head record against two-time Olympic medalist Indian to 7-4 with this victory.

The third-seeded Indian got off to a strong start, taking an early 8-3 lead. Ratchanok Intanon, on the other hand, displayed poise and cut the deficit to two points at the halftime break. Sindhu maintained her lead after the break with to her outstanding defence and crosscourt play, taking advantage of Intanon's mistakes. The defending world champion built a comfortable 19-14 lead and made it a point to end the game within the following three points.

In the second game, Intanon came out firing on all cylinders and went into the halftime break with a comfortable 11-7 advantage. The Indian had no one to blame but herself for her line misjudgments, which cost her heavily on important points and shifted the game's momentum in the Thai shuttler's favour.
