Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has made it to the women's singles semifinals of the Badminton Asia Championship (BAC) with a thrilling  win over China's Hi Bing Jiao here on Friday. With this win, Sindhu has secured a medal for herself in this continental championship. The tournament is being played after a gap of two years due to the Corona pandemic.

Fourth seed Sindhu, who also won a bronze medal in the 2014 Gimchion stage, has defeated the 5th seeded Chinese 21-9 13-21 21-19 in the quarterfinals that lasted one hour and 16 minutes. Sindhu, ranked 7th in the world, had a 7-9 win record against Bing Jiao in the first match, which she has previously defeated in the last two encounters.

Sindhu took a 11-2 lead in the first game without wasting any time and then dominated and has gone 1-0 up  in the match. Bing Jiao, however, made a great comeback in the second game and has managed to take a 6-4 lead to 11-10. After the break, the Chinese player has scored 5 points in a row to take a 19-12 lead to level the match at 1-1.
