NEW DELHI: Qatar Airways' flight from Delhi to Doha made an emergency landing in Karachi, Pakistan, on Monday.
Accordingly, Qatar Airways flight QR579 was diverted to Karachi after the airline declared an emergency owing to smoke detected in the cargo hold. The airline said in a statement that "the aircraft landed safely in Karachi, where it was welcomed by emergency services and passengers exited orderly via stairs."
On Monday, the flight left Delhi at 3.50 a.m. and arrived in Karachi at 5.30 a.m. "The situation is being investigated, and a relief flight is being organised to transfer passengers continue to Doha," the airline said in a statement.
"A relief flight is being organised to transfer passengers onwards to Doha while the issue is being investigated." We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused our passengers, who will be supported with their continuing travel arrangements," they further added.
