Serbia's Novak Djokovic, a 21-time Grand Slam winner, is set to bow out of the US Open, the last Grand Slam event of the year, due to America's corona vaccine policy. US rules say that to enter the country, you must get the coronavirus vaccine.

Serbia's Djokovic has not been vaccinated and has pulled out of this year's Australian Open due to his anti-vaccine views. Now the organizers of the US Open have said that they respect the US government's coronavirus vaccine rules. The US Open said in a statement issued on Wednesday that "according to the ITF Grand Slam rule book, all eligible players can automatically make it to the main draw areas of the men's and women's singles based on rankings 42 days before the first Monday of the event."

Vaccination is not mandatory for players at the US Open, but the event will have to respect the US government's rules regarding travel to the country for non-US citizens. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) released the men's and women's singles entry list on Wednesday. Djokovic's name was on the entry list, but at the moment it is not certain whether he will be allowed to play. The tournament is scheduled to be played in New York between August 29 and September 11.
