New Delhi: After the claim that a Shivling was found in Varanasi's Gyanvapi mosque, now another big claim is being made. This time, it has been said about the Qutub Minar that it is the sun pillar. Not only this, it has also been claimed that it was built not by Qutbuddin Aibak, but by King Vikramaditya. Dharamveer Sharma, former regional director of ASI, claimed that what is called the Qutub Minar is actually a Sun Observatory.

He further said that the Qutub Minar has been surveyed several times by the ASI several times. Along with looking at the direction of the sun, archaeologists could study 27 constellations, so the sun observatory was built, he said,  adding that there is also evidence in this regard. Dharamvir Sharma says that this samarak was not built by Qutubuddin Aibak, but by King Vikramaditya in the 5th century. The Qutub Minar has a tilt of 25 inches. That's because it was created to observe the sun. The area was known as vishnu pada pahari, where the remains of the time when chauhan, tomar, pratihar states ruled.

Dharamveer Sharma, former regional director of ASI, said there are 27 structures that have been carved with 27 precious gems. What is called the Qutub Minar is an independent structure. The gate of the Qutub Minar is also on the north side and it is meant to see the pole star.
