R-day:India gifts ambulances, educational materials to Nepal

Kathmandu [Nepal], Jan 26 (NT): On the occasion of the 69th Republic Day, the Indian Mission in Nepal on Friday presented 30 ambulances and six buses to assorted hospitals and non-profit charity organizations.

The ceremony was organized at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, which also marked the handing over of book grants to 41 educational institutions across Nepal.

Students of various schools gave performance at the event and Nepal Army's band also performed during the hosting of the flag by Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri.

Like every year, this Republic Day celebration witnessed the felicitation of seven widows, four next of kin of deceased soldiers and one disabled soldier of Indian Armed forces with dues worth NPR. 4.14 Crore and blankets to each.

On 15th August of 2017, the Indian Mission in Nepalunder the headship of India’s Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri handed over handed over 30 ambulances and six buses to various hospitals, organizations and non-profitable organizations as aid to Nepali medical and education sectors at a function in the premises of Indian Embassy in Kathmandu .

Puri had also distributed cheques worth 57.3 million Nepalese rupees to 15 widows and wards of deceased soldiers of Indian armed forces. (NT)
