Rachakonda: Acidifying the instructions given by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to curb drug abuse, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said, “We started the campaign to reduce drug use on the outskirts of the city. This is because intelligence reports said that drug smugglers can use the city highways and outskirts to sell drugs and hence the Abdullapurmet Police was directed to check all vehicles on the highway."

"We had brought in special narcotics dogs, which are trained to sniff drugs, to conduct the drive. The drive was successful and citizens also supported us," he said. Another murder case in Hyderabad, according to the information, a man was murdered in a car near a restaurant in Hayatnagar on Saturday morning. On seeing the victim in the car, passersby informed the police officials.

Police reached the spot with dog squad and inspected the surrounding areas. The murder is said to have occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. It was learned that the attackers threw chilli powder at the victim and later attacked her with a knife. The police have registered a case and are scanning the CCTV footage installed in the area to identify the killers. The body was sent for postmortem. The victim has not been identified yet.
