London: Roger Federer of Switzerland will take on Rafael Nadal of Spain on Friday in the semifinal of the second Grand Slam of the year French Open. As per the information received from sources, Federer reached the semifinals for the first time after 6 years while Spain's Nadal made it to the semifinals for the 12th time. 2015 Federer, the champion of 2009, beat Stan Wawrinka, the defending champion Switzerland, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. He took the fight to his name in three hours 35 minutes. Federer, who has won 20 Grand Slam, has delivered his career record 23-3 against Wawrinka, with the victory.

With this, second seed Nadal outscored Japan's Kei Nishikori 6-1, 6-1, 6-3. Nadal, who is said to be the ' king ' of the clay court, beat Nishikori for the fifth consecutive time here. Nadal won in one hour 51 minutes to reach his career record 11-2 against Nishikori. The win has reached Nadal's record 93-2 at the French Open. 2009 champion Federer is looking for the title for the second time. However, his career record against Nadal is 15-23.
