New Delhi: Continuing attack on the PM Modi government, senior Congress leader Malikarjun Kharge on Monday gave notice in Lok Sabha, demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) in the case. Kharge gave notice under rule 193.

The Congress party on Sunday demanded documentary evidence of claims which were made by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on contracts given to HAL. Congress also said that if she failed to do so the party will demand her resignation in Parliament.

Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter on Saturday and accused  Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman of speaking lie in Parliament that government orders worth Rs one lakh crore were provided to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), while demanding that she should either place the documents in support of her statement in the House or resign. He further said that Tomorrow, RM must place before Parliament documents showing 1 Lakh crore of Govt orders to HAL. Or resign.

In response to this, Defence Minister Sitharaman hit back at Congress chief for his remarks, saying read "the complete report" to "which you are referring". However, as the LS record shows, Sitharaman did not claim the orders were signed, saying they were in the works. Sitharaman said she had not stated in Parliament that the orders to HAL had been signed.
