New Delhi: A delegation of the Congress Party led by former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and the party's National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached the office of the National Human Rights Commission based in Delhi on Monday with a complaint from the Uttar Pradesh Police. The Congress has filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission against the strict action taken by the Uttar Pradesh Police during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had earlier filed a complaint with the UP Police with UP Governor Anandiben Patel. The Congress party has demanded the Human Rights Commission to investigate the action of Uttar Pradesh Police against the opponents of the citizenship law. Rahul and Priyanka have accused the UP police of spreading anarchy. The Congress delegation to the Human Rights Commission has said in its complaint that the Uttar Pradesh Police is taking such action, which has no legal basis.

The Congress party has also put the Uttar Pradesh Police under the scanner over the people killed during the protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Let me tell you that on December 19 and after that there were violent protests in many areas of Uttar Pradesh regarding CAA. In many places, there were violent clashes with the police of the protesters. During this, many policemen were injured and many protesters were also killed.
