BENGALURU: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who landed in Bengaluru on Thursday for a two-day visit, paid a visit to the late Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar's home in Sadashivanagar and paid tribute to him.

Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by D.K. Shivakumar, the state Congress president, and Siddaramaiah, the opposition leader. Puneeth's wife Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, daughter Vandita Puneeth Rajkumar, and the late actor's brother Raghavendra Rajkumar were interviewed by Rahul Gandhi.

"I conveyed my condolences to Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar and other family members of late Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar. At a young age, Puneeth created an indelible impression on all Kannadigas "Rahul Gandhi sent a Kannada-language tweet. The Congressman has earlier attended the late Siddaganga Mutt seer Shivakumar Swamiji's 115th birthday celebration.

"I'm delighted to be here.  I had come here on an earlier occasion. The Mutt had also been visited by my father and grandma. My mother was also present. The Mutt and I have had a long and respected friendship. After witnessing and understanding the work that has been done here, I am overjoyed to learn that the institution has assisted lakhs of children in pursuing their dreams " Rahul Gandhi said. "I'm thinking of the late Shivakumar Swamiji, who paved the way for us. I had met him the previous time I was here. We must follow the route he has outlined for us "he added.
