Rahul Gandhi wrote in his tweet, "When you forgive the debts of friends, why not the farmers of the country? Making farmers debt-free is not a priority for the Modi government. This is sheer injustice.'' In a tweet, he also shared a newspaper cutting stating that the government has said in Parliament that the government has no plan to waive off agricultural loans. Reacting to Rahul's tweet, Dhruv Patel, a Twitter user, said, 'From doing so, implement debt waiver and justice scheme in Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and set an example, if you are really serious about it.'
It may be recalled that Rahul had reached Parliament on Monday by driving a tractor to protest against agricultural laws. Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Gandhi had said that the government is saying that farmers are happy. The farmers on strike are being called terrorists and what they do not know. But the reality is that the rights of the farmers are being taken away. Rahul Gandhi had said, "I have come with the message of farmers. They are trying to suppress the voice of the farmers and are not allowing these issues to be debated in Parliament. They have to withdraw these three agricultural laws.''
