NEW DELHI: BJP National President J.P. Nadda stepped up his criticism of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks against India at Cambridge University, saying that Rahul Gandhi had "become a permanent part of this anti-nationalist toolkit."

Addressing media this morning Nadda said: "The Congress party's involvement in anti-national activities is regrettable. Rahul Gandhi has now permanently incorporated himself into this anti-nationalist toolset after being rejected by the country on numerous occasions." Rahul Gandhi is denigrating the country and the Parliament while on foreign land, the speaker said, at a time when India's economy is growing to become the fifth largest in the world and the G20 meetings are taking place here. Rahul Gandhi was also criticised by him for disparaging India's 130 crore people and the government of the majority. He stated: "Rahul Gandhi also disparages the 130 billion Indians and the elected majority administration.

What else is this but supporting the traitors? On foreign soil, Rahul Gandhi declared that the US and Europe should step in because India's democracy is dead. What is more degrading than this?" Nadda demanded Rahul's apologies and said: "Rahul Gandhi needs to express regret. Even at the most trying moments in India's history since independence, no Indian leader has ever pleaded with other countries to take action against the Indian government. Throughout the history of independent India, this is a very important issue." Since Rahul Gandhi made comments about India and its democracy in London, the BJP has been trying to discredit him. Rahul's apology is also required by the BJP, which has threatened to launch a national campaign against him if he doesn't.

During a recent talk at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said: "Everyone is aware that the Indian democracy is under threat and has been frequently in the headlines. I am a leader of the opposition in India, and we are navigating that territory. The institutional framework necessary for a democratic Parliament, free press, independent judiciary, and even the concept of mobilisation and movement are all facing restrictions. As a result, the fundamental foundation of Indian democracy is under attack."
