New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi staged a sit-in protest in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament complex on the first day of the budget session. Earlier, a total of 19 opposition parties, including Congress, boycotted the President's address to demand the withdrawal of the agricultural law. On the boycott of President Ramnath Kovind's address, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said, 'Boycott of President's address is not to disrespect him. We are standing with the farmers and demanding the repeal of agricultural laws. This is the biggest reason for boycotting the President's address. We will participate in the debate on the vote of thanks on the address.'
There was solidarity in the opposition today on the demand for the repeal of agricultural laws. A total of 19 opposition parties boycotted the President's address. The Congress and 15 opposition parties registered their protest together. Whereas Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also boycotted separate presidential addresses. The Bahujan Samajwadi Party also boycotted the President's address.
