New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi this week exposed that he is a devotee of Lord Shiva.

Rahul, who offered prayers at Vir Meghmaya temple in Patan, Gujarat, on Monday, said “Main Shiv ka bhakt hoon, sachaai mein believe karta hoon. BJP jo bhi bole, main apni sachaai mein believe karta hu (I am a devotee of Shiva and I believe in truth. Whatever BJP says, I believe in my truth).”

It may be noteworthy that Rahul, who is soon set to take over as the Congress party chief, has been visiting temples in Gujarat though in the poll-bound state for election campaigning.

Among the all temples that Rahul has visited include Dwarkadhish temple, Swaminarayan temple and Ambaji temple, among others.

Rahul's visit to temples in Gujarat has attracted denigration from the BJP which has said them as mere “election stunt”.

BJP national secretary Bhupender Yadav had mocked that such visits must come obviously to a person and not only all through elections.

Gujaraties votes on December 9 and 14 for the Legislative Assembly elections while the results will be announced on December 18.
