New Delhi: Former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday targeted the Centre over the 'Global Hunger Index' 2020, continuing its attack on the Centre's Modi government. He said that India's poor are hungry because the government is only engaged in filling the pockets of some of its special friends.
India has been ranked 94 in the list of 117 countries of the Global Hunger Index 2020 released on Friday, while Indonesia, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh are ranked far better than it is. Rahul Gandhi shared a graph published in this regard on his Twitter handle and targeted the central government and wrote, "India's poor are hungry because the government is only trying to fill the pockets of some of its special friends".
According to the index, Indonesia is ranked 70, Nepal 73, Bangladesh 75 and Pakistan 88. MP Rahul Gandhi from the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala had targeted the centre yesterday over the impact on economy post COVID19 lockdown. He shared a tweet, "Another concrete achievement of the BJP government, Pakistan and Afghanistan, managed COVID19 situation better than India."
