New Delhi: Former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi on Friday attacked the Modi government for lack of oxygen and ICU beds in several cities alleging that the government was responsible for the situation. He tweeted, "Coronavirus may cause oxygen levels to fall, but due to lack of oxygen and lack of ICU beds, a lot of deaths are taking place. The Government of India, it is your responsibility''.

It may be recalled that there are reports of oxygen shortage in many cities of the country. In Delhi, 25 critically ill patients lost their lives at Sir Gangaram Hospital. Sources said the possible reason behind the incident is oxygen shortage. Rahul Gandhi has also expressed grief over the death of several covid patients over a fire at a private hospital in Virar in Maharashtra. He said "There is sad news from Vijay Vallabh Covid Centre in Virar that several patients died due to fire. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims''.

Rahul Gandhi further said, "I appeal to the state government and Congress workers to provide all necessary assistance". In Virar, 13 patients suffering from corona were killed in a fire at a private hospital in the early hours of Friday. The fire broke out in the ICU (intensive care unit) of the hospital. There were 17 patients in the ICU at the time of the incident. Four patients were rescued and admitted to other hospitals in the area.
