New Delhi: Former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi on Monday attacked the government over agricultural laws and alleged that the voice of farmers has been suppressed both in Parliament and outside. He shared a news report on the uproar during the passing of these bills in the upper house.

In a tweet, Rahul said, "The law on agriculture is a punishment for our farmers. Their voice was suppressed both in Parliament and outside. There is evidence that democracy in India is over. The news quoted by Rahul Gandhi claims that the deputy chairman of the upper house Harivansh had said that the opposition members were not present in his seat while demanding voting on agricultural bills in the house, but the Rajya Sabha TV footage is proving to be wrong.

Let us tell you that in the recently concluded monsoon session, Parliament flagged off the Agricultural Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill-2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance Agreement and the Agreement Bill-2020 on Agricultural Services. President Ram Nath Kovind signed the bills on Sunday, after which they became laws.
