Congress stalwart Rahul Gandhi lashed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for a "systematic attack" on farmers. Rahul was addressing the press meet about the Lakhimpur incident in which eight, including four farmers, were killed, where he said the statement.

Rahul Gandhi’s allegation reads as follows:_"Farmers are being mowed down by a jeep, they're being murdered. Yesterday, PM Modi visited Lucknow but he didn't visit Lakhimpur Kheri. It's a systematic attack on farmers. They are stealing from the farmers and insulting them and that is a bad idea," he said, adding that farmers are being 'attacked' by the government for some time now.

Rahul further stated that it is the Opposition's job to create pressure. "That is what worked in the Hathras rape case. This is what we are trying to do here, but the government is not letting us. It is the media’s responsibility to raise this issue, but when we ask questions, raise the issue, then, the media say that we are doing politics," he said.
