Amethi (UP): Congress president Rahul Gandhi and BJP Union Minister Smriti Irani are all set to take the political ferment of Amethi by storm with both the leaders holding rally here on Friday.  Both had contested the last Lok Sabha elections from here and a contest won by the Gandhi scion, and is expected to cross wards once again in the upcoming LS election.

Rahul will be in Amethi on January 4 and 5 while Irani who is a vocal critic of the Congress scion, will start her daylong visit to the Gandhi bastion on Friday.

The Congress President will meet the people of his constituency, to be present at public and party reception, hold 'corner meetings' in Salon and visit Pareshdepur, Naseerabad, Paraiya Namaksar and Gauriganj areas on Friday.

He will also participate in the oath-taking ceremony of the Gauriganj Zila Adhivakta Sangh and inaugurate the Adhivakta Bhawan, built from the MPLAD funds.

On Saturday, he will take a trip to Musafirkhana tehsil, Jagdishpur and Tiloyi, where he will meet the family members of late Shiv Pratap Singh, a veteran Congress leader who  passed away last week after a prolonged illness, before landing  Lucknow for his onward journey to national capital Delhi.

On the other hand, Irani, will attend a programme held by Raghav Sewa Sansthan during which blankets and financial help will be extended to needy people and a foundation stone for a school will also be laid.
